The Journal of Sexual Medicine has released the numbers from its new study on the average size of the American male penis.
The men used in the study measured their penis size anonymously to researchers by measuring during a full erection. The research team included Indiana University scientists who believe the men used in the study did not fib or exaggerate the length. The researchers only used 1,661 American men to determine that the average male penis is 5.6 inches or 14.15″cm when erect and an average penile girth or circumference was about 4.8 inches when erect.
The study found no connection between race or ethnicity and penis size, or between sexual orientation and the penis size.
The smallest size in the study was 1.5 inches and the largest at 10.2 inches.
